This is my drafting page. My drafting teacher is Mrs. Dunlap. In drafting we do technical drawings, making designs on the computer and also real life models. I like drafting because it is a fun class and it is cool to design things. Drafting is only a semester long class. I have drafting in the second semester and switched from art. I made a page for the first semester called "Art".
Tennis ball tower:CADD drawings: |
We are making a tennis ball tower in drafting. To the left are our instructions and guidelines. We are in teams of 4 and we have to draw sketches and ideas of how to make a tall tower out of paper, 8 paper clips, and ten inches of masking tape that holds a tennis ball for ten seconds. We are going to make a tower that is made of triangles standing up stacked on top of each other and put the tennis ball on top. I think it will be able to hold to but I'm not sure that we will get all the points for creativity. CADD is a drawing tool on the program Sketch Up where you are able to make drawings with exact measurements and angles. We did paper drawings earlier this year and we did some of the same drawings on CADD. We used tools on our paper unlike CADD. On CADD you can use the tape measure , protractor, pencil and eraser tools to draw lines and create shapes on a computer. This is a multi-view drawing. On this drawing we draw multiple views of an object. The 3 views you draw are front (In the bottom left corner), top (above front) and side (on the right side of front). We use hidden lines and dimensions also to make it easier to understand what the object looks like. The hidden line in this object is the dotted line in the side view. It signifies that there is a line in or on the other side of the view that you can't see. |
